It’s simple little statements of a clean glass sphere and a lit element within to add bare beauty to the bones of an interior. This one is more interesting because of the substitution of a single filament bulb for a candelabra lamping. A little more elegant than your average vintage inspired pendant.

Referencing the exotic architecture of India, this lantern is a simple represention of the historical elaboracy and vibrancy that is native to the Country’s stylistic heritage. I have always loved lanterns throughout my design career, they remind me of miniature interior spaces whose client is a luminent figure. The surfaces through which the lamp receive and transmit light and shadow are affected by the interior and exterior conditions (much like a home). They also provide a sense of nostalgia to a space. Whether you place yours indoors or outdoors, remember how powerful of a mechanism this was! The lantern was an invention as early as 70,000 B.C. The very first lanterns were created by taking hollow rocks or shells and placing burning materials within.

This series called Spring A & B of photographic art by Doris...

This series called Spring A & B of photographic art by Doris Mitsch is so delicate and mysterious. The artistic style makes you feel as though you are suspended in time. The breathing universe which exists constantly has frozen for a moment of focus on the light of nature’s subject. Using a flatbed scanner, Doris is able to capture details not normally experienced through the lens of a camera.

As always, a nod to perfection and grace from the flawless work...

As always, a nod to perfection and grace from the flawless work of Jewelry Designer Alexandra Mor. I really love that his chair is elegant enough in a dining setting but casual enough for a public space.

Beef Bar Restaurants in Monaco and Mexico City by Humbert and...

Beef Bar Restaurants in Monaco and Mexico City by Humbert and Poyet Architecture. The firm consists of Emil Humbert and Christophe Poyet forming m2 based in Monaco. Their projects make sure to emphasize the clean and thoughtful lines that are timeless and luxurious. Using humbled materials with raw beauty such as glass, stone, and wood whose natural qualities in the right installation are luxurious and seductive. I love the use of rough edged stone for the counters in this space next to the clean lines of the millwork and furniture. The color palette also respects nature reminding me of the richness of brown soil, manicured landscape and weathered stone. So refined and couture of an experience, that eating beef won’t be your usual steakhouse experience.

Calling folks of the kitchen world to make a connection between...

Calling folks of the kitchen world to make a connection between modern day cooking and well designed objects with the pure functionality of early civilization. The Handle Me Collection by Awaa Design Studio is a lovely and simple cast iron and wood dowel set that references the bare and raw use of tools from objects like the wheel and the stone axe. What a wonderful concept.
